Saving Lives

In the streets of Accra, Ghana, there are more than 60,000 children living on the streets. Many of them have left their life to try to find a job or because they decided to run away from home. Many if these children end up going into the human trafficking business or they end up still living on the streets, hardly alive. These children have to rummage through trash and the sewers just to find food. They sleep out in the open in every season, and constantly get sick. Many of these children have diseases such as malaria, rashes, various types of infections and headaches. There are many factors that lead children to the streets such as a sudden population growth in urban areas, and that they think they will make  better life in the streets, rather than stay at home and finish school. They government isn’t making any attempt to fix the problem.

It is very sad that these children think that going out to find work on the streets will get them a better job/life. They need to just stay home and listen to their parents. They know what is best for them. There are many reasons that these kids are sick. They get food out of dumps! How gross and invested that is. If they lived at home, they would have food and shelter. These kids are out sleeping on the streets and under bridges. I would feel terrible and like I am not worth anything if I was living on the streets by choice. It would be even worse if I got taken into the human trafficking business. I could end up in a whole other country! The sad thing in all of this is that the government isn’t doing a single thing about it. How could you not deal with 60,000 + children living on the street, where you walk every day?! This whole thing is just upsetting. Just think of the children! The children are our future! we need to help and protect them from EVERYTHING!
